Modern Loft: Inside Celebrated London Home

The Olympic gold medalist Tom Daley and Oscar-winning screenwriter Dustin Lance Black are undeniably true leaders in their fields. Their maestry is what reflects astonishingly in the duo’s unique home. Back in 2017, our furniture found its place in their extraordinary industrial loft, a stunning South London penthouse. Featured in The Evening Standard and The Telegraph, this modern loft blended industrial design with warm, lived-in character and we were honoured to see our bar stools at the heart of it - the kitchen. Described as a space filled with “exposed brickwork, oak beams and a cocktail bar,” the apartment was a testament to industrial style interiors, a perfect balance of raw materials and personal charm. Seeing our work in such a setting was a moment of real pride - one of those quiet validations that fuel the creative journey.

Industrial Style Meets Function

As the articles highlighted, Tom and Lance’s home was was full of bold design choices, reclaimed materials and functional luxury. Their kitchen, with its raw steel and reclaimed wood accents, was a natural home for our handcrafted THE LINE Bar Stools. More than just seating, they became part of the home’s daily rhythm - the spot where morning coffees, late-night conversations and creative ideas took shape.

We’ve always believed that furniture should feel like an extension of the people who use it. So knowing that our work was part of the daily life in their loft apartment, whether it was preparing for competitions, writing scripts or simply unwinding together, made this feature especially meaningful.

Beyond the Kitchen: The Versatility of a Bar Stool

One of the things we love most about industrial design is how adaptable it can be. While THE LINE Bar Stools were originally designed for the kitchen, they found unexpected uses throughout Tom and Lance’s modern loft apartment. In the bedroom, the high, American-style bed needed a taller bedside table, that's where the bar stool fit the space perfectly, proving that great design is about function meeting creativity. Meanwhile, in the hallway, another stool became a stylish plant stand, adding warmth and texture to the industrial space.

This versatility is something we see often, whether it’s a statement piece in a home bar, a compact side table or even extra seating for gatherings, the right furniture moves with you, adapting as your space evolves.

A Throwback That Still Inspires

Looking back, this moment was more than just seeing our work in the remarkably designed, modern loft. It was about how design brings people together, connecting us with a pair of inspiring creatives, two leaders who brought passion and personality into everything they did. It was also a boost of confidence, a quiet nod that our work resonated in spaces where craftsmanship, storytelling and personal expression mattered. Moments like these remind us why we create, to craft pieces that don’t just fill a room but become part of the lives and stories within it.
