Majestic materials – History of THE LINE’s wooden design

Welcome back after a small break! During the last few weeks, we have received a lot of questions about the materials used in our designs. The most frequently asked question raised the issue of the origin of the wood used in our collections. That’s why today’s post is going to tell you the story of the stunning oak, shining on THE LINE family members.

The below-presented photos show the main production line, responsible for preparing the wood for later assembly. You can see that every separate piece of wood is being handmade. As a result, the entire process visualizes the idea of creating a unique, luxury product which is impossible to duplicate.

Let’s start with presenting the material itself. The wood used in all of our designs is the 200-year-old oak under the form of reclaimed beams. It is important to mention that its availability on the market is highly limited due to its age, which makes each furniture even more unique. All purchased beams are being transported from France to the British district called the Cotswolds. Thanks to the demanding English climate, the wood changes its form by simultaneously stretching and shrinking. It prevents it from breaking in the future while being used as a part of THE LINE furniture collection.

For the next 15 years, all of the beams rest surrounded by lakes and humid air. As soon as they go through this process, they are being cut into small blocks, very similar to those which you can see on the photo above. Then we are drying it in order to give them a darker colour, completely different than typical light and orange oak. As you may have noticed by now, the complexity of the entire preparation reflects in a longer expected waiting time. However, it is undeniably worth to wait a few weeks and then host some natural masterpieces at your home.

Eventually, when the entire woodworking process ends, the finished elements are being attached to the steel frame. As a result, you can enjoy watching the whole THE LINE family, serving you at your beautiful houses and apartments.
